Cheetah C550

Many manufacturers have come and gone in the speedtrap/safety camera detector market, but only a few have remained. Snooper was the first of the big players more than 20 years ago, Road Angel came along about 15 years ago and Cheetah came into the market over 10 years ago with the Cheetah Mirror.

As has been mentioned many others have been and gone but these 3 are the key players still in the market at the time of writing with good products.

Cheetah has recently launched their latest model the Cheetah C550. Following on from the success of the Cheetah C50 and then the Cheetah C150 the C550 utilises the same basic chassis as the C150 but now comes with the additional features of a headphone socket, a socket for an extension GPS antenna and it is also now capable of being wired in to mute the stereo.

Representing the very latest in GPS speedtrap and red light camera trap detection the C550 utilises the same Trinity 2.0 database as used in the C150 to great effect. The features and the database together make this device the one to beat in the marketplace but it won't be easy, with the plethora of menu features, build quality, superb display and the database it's hard to find a device so complete in such a small and pleasing package.

Cheetah have thought about the design of this device very carefully and given it the best of everything. A small enough package that can be placed almost anywhere in the car without it being obtrusive but importantly they have chosen the biggest side of the device for the display which means it's a big as it can be compared to the size of the device.
The C550 is just 7.2cm / 2?” wide, 4cm / 1½” tall and 2.6cm / 1" deep.

Updating the Cheetah C550 couldn't really by much simpler, it comes supplied with a USB cable and you register it online with the serial number, you login to the members area on the website and select the region you want to update, if it doesn't update automatically just follow the onscreen prompts.

In the box supplied with the C550 you'll find a Power cord(with extra fuses), Windshield mount, Magnetic dash mount, PC download cable and the Quick start guide.

There are so many features included with the C550 it would be difficult to go through all of them on this page but one of the best features we like is that it can calculate your average speed through SPECS cameras which can send you a ticket of your average speed is too high between a series of cameras.
